Several highways were closed in Toronto, Canada, on Monday, January 17, as a severe storm brought heavy snow to the city, police said.
Footage filmed by student Cherie Mercado shows two drivers struggling to get through the snow on George Appleton Way in the Downsview neighborhood of Toronto.
“Best not to enter George Appleton Way from 401-Keele. I’ve witnessed vehicles get stuck since 6a I’ve witnessed vehicles get stuck since 6 am,” Mercado said in the post.
Up to 60 centimeters (about 23.6 inches) of snowfall was expected in Toronto while blowing snow was forecast to “significantly” reduce visibility, according to Environment and Climate Change Canada.
