Snow and Ice Forecast Through Tonight
The first major winter storm of the season is inching across the Northeast today. It will bring a messy, wintry mix into early Wednesday morning.

Cold air has entrenched itself across the Northeast as meteorological winter begins. A disturbance will move northeastward along the coast of the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast as a coastal storm through this evening. This disturbance will draw a deep plume of moisture northward. This interaction will spread moderate to heavy snow across interior parts of the Northeast into early Wednesday morning.

Widespread snow totals of 2 to 4 inches will be seen across interior New England, with higher amounts of 6 to 10 inches from central New York to central Maine. Some light freezing rain will also be possible today. New ice amounts of a glaze up to one-tenth of an inch will be possible.

For this storm system, Winter Weather Advisories remain across portions of northern Connecticut, northern New Hampshire and northern Maine. Winter Storm Warnings are also in place for northern Massachusetts, southern Vermont, southern New Hampshire, and southern Maine.

It’s never too early to have a supply kit packed in case of inclement weather. A simple kit including a weather radio, water, blankets, batteries, and non-perishable food items will go a long way in the event of a power outage. It’s always best to avoid travel in rough weather as the roads will be dangerous.
