A pair of weak disturbances will bring light snowfall to the Great Lakes today and Wednesday.
The first round of accumulating snow pushed across the Great Lakes early Tuesday. A quick coating to 2 inches of snow was reported from Michigan and northern Ohio into western Pennsylvania and New York.
Following the first system’s departure, a second will affect locales further north across the northern Great Lakes and northern New York Wednesday. Light snow and a rain/snow mix will only result in an additional coating to 1 inch of snowfall from northern Michigan to northern New York.
In northern New York, where lake-effect snow will enhance totals over the next two days, there is a Winter Weather Advisory for localized 3 to 6 inch snowfall totals on the Tughill Plateau.
It is never too early to have a supply kit packed in case of inclement weather. A simple kit including a weather radio, water, blankets, batteries, and non-perishable food items will go a long way in the event of a power outage. It’s always best to not travel in rough weather as the roads will be dangerous. Make sure to download the WeatherBug app to stay up to date on the latest.
