April 8, 2020
UPDATED By WeatherBug's Brandon Bush
Thunderstorms move across the Midwest, bringing a relentless stream of hazards along their path.
Severe thunderstorms have developed in parts of the Great Lakes and Midwest. Heavy rain, hail and strong winds are unfurling and will continue their assault as the system pushes east. The system will move into the Lower Great Lakes and Northeast tonight.
Severe Thunderstorm Watches have been issued for northern Illinois, eastern Iowa and Michigan, as well as northern Ohio and Indiana Michigan as well as Lake Michigan until late tonight. Cities such as Chicago, Detroit, Flint and Cold Water, Mich., Warsaw, Ind., Cleveland and Mansfield, Ohio and Erie, Pa., are in the danger zone for these storms. Severe Thunderstorm Warnings are also issued for Washtenaw County in Michigan, South Bend, Ind., and just south of Iowa City, Iowa.
Make sure to be aware of weather happening around your region should a watch or warning be issued. If a watch is issued, that means that severe weather is possible for your area, but should a warning be issued then severe weather is imminent and you should take shelter until it is safe. Remember, “When Thunder Roars, Go Indoors.”
