Monday's Weather Outlook

As a large snowmaker exits off the East Coast, dry and cold weather will be the theme east of the Rockies.
A low-pressure system will move off the East Coast and into the eastern Canada territories. In the morning, a few snow showers will exist in eastern New England, depositing light snowfall accumulations on top of what has fallen in the previous days.
Farther west, another clipper system will move through the Great Lakes and reinvigorate the lake-effect snow machine. Moderate to heavy snowfall can be expected for lake-effect prone regions of Michigan, northeast Ohio, western Pennsylvania, and northwestern New York. Elsewhere in this region, snow showers may bring heavy bursts of snow and additional powder to an existing snowpack.
Dry and chilly conditions will be the story from Colorado to Virginia and everywhere in between. Thanks to a strong high-pressure system, the Plains, Lower Midwest, Ohio Valley, Mid-Atlantic, Southeast, Mid-South, and Deep South will be dry.
A light snow event will be likely in eastern Colorado and western Kansas as a weak disturbance moves overhead. This activity will dissipate before it moves into Oklahoma and Texas.
The Western U.S. is also under the influence of a strong high-pressure system. This includes the Pacific Northwest, Great Basin, Rocky Mountains, Four Corners, West Coast, and Desert Southwest. Warmer temperatures will be found along the West Coast, with progressively colder weather forecast farther eastward towards the eastern extent of the Rocky Mountains.
Negative and single digit temperatures will be common in the eastern Northern Plains and Upper Midwest. A mix of single digits and teens will be found in the Lower Midwest and northern Ohio Valley. Twenties and 30s are in the forecast for all types of terrain around the Rocky Mountains, western Northern Plains, central Plains, southern Ohio Valley, Northeast, and northern Mid-Atlantic. The southern Mid-Atlantic, northern half of the southern Plains, Great Basin, and eastern Pacific Northwest are in for 30s and 40s.
Forties and 50s are expected for the Four Corners, western Pacific Northwest, Southeast, and Deep South. Warmer air will be felt along the central to southern West Coast, southern half of the southern Plains, and southern Florida with 50s and 60s. Sixties and 70s will take up the Desert Southwest!
