The Fawn Fire burning in Shasta County, California, reached 5,850 acres and was 10 percent contained as of Friday, September 24, after it destroyed dozens of structures and forced thousands to evacuate, according to local officials.
A woman has been arrested on suspicion of arson in connection with the blaze, according to Cal Fire. The agency is recommending that she be charged with “arson to wildland” with an “enhancement” due to California’s declared wildfire state of emergency.
