The winter storm that brought snow and ice to the eastern U.S. on Wednesday will pull away from the northeastern U.S. today, but not before dropping a bit more snow.
Light to moderate snowfall will continue across northern New York and northern New England this morning, tapering off and ending during the afternoon and evening. An additional 1 to 4 inches of powder could accumulate in these areas, with locally higher amounts of 4 to 6 additional inches in northern New Hampshire and northern and central Maine.
Some spots may briefly change over to a freezing drizzle before precipitation ends, but only light ice accumulations are possible.
Winter Weather Advisories remain across New Hampshire and Maine this morning thanks to the additional expected snowfall and the potential for a glaze of ice.
Thankfully, a large area of high pressure following in the wake of this complex storm will bring quiet weather and a welcomed return to unseasonably warm temperatures. This will lead to a more rapid snowmelt and a quicker recovery process, too.
