-URGENT - WINTER WEATHER MESSAGE National Weather Service Anchorage AK 1202 AM AKST Fri Jan 16 2026 Kuskokwim Valley West-Kuskokwim Delta Coast and Nunivak Island- Interior Kuskokwim Delta- Including the cities of Mekoryuk, Akiachak, Kalskag, Aniak, Toksook Bay, Quinhagak, Kipnuk, Kasigluk, Bethel, and Kwethluk 1202 AM AKST Fri Jan 16 2026 ...WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 6 AM AKST EARLY THIS MORNING... * WHAT...Mixed precipitation. Additional snow accumulations up to 2 inches and ice accumulations up to one tenth of an inch. Winds gusting as high as 40-50 mph. Visibilities may be reduced to one-half mile or less at times. * WHERE...Kuskokwim Delta and Kuskokwim Valley West (along Kuskokwim River from Kalskag to Napaimiut). * WHEN...Until 6 AM AKST early this morning. * IMPACTS...Travel could be very difficult. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...For Mekoryuk and portions of the Kuskokwim Delta coast north of Kipnuk, near-blizzard conditions will gradually improve through the morning as winds decrease. Elsewhere, snow will likely mix with or briefly change over to freezing rain through the morning. By late morning, precipitation changes back to all snow. However, we are monitoring the potential for significant visibility reductions in blowing snow from late morning through the afternoon as gusty south to southwesterly winds move in.
