-URGENT - WEATHER MESSAGE National Weather Service Anchorage AK 348 AM AKST Thu Jan 15 2026 Anchorage Hillside / Eagle River- Including the cities of Indian, Anchorage Hillside, and Upper Eagle River 348 AM AKST Thu Jan 15 2026 ...HIGH WIND WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM 3 PM THIS AFTERNOON TO NOON AKST FRIDAY... * WHAT...Southeast winds 40 to 60 mph wi gusts up to 85 mph expected. * WHERE...Anchorage Hillside and higher elevations of Eagle River * WHEN...From 3 PM this afternoon to noon AKST Friday. * IMPACTS...High winds may move loose debris, damage property, and cause power outages. Travel will be difficult. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Winds will strengthen through the day today, then peak between 3pm and 7pm. Wind gusts will then temporarily diminish to around 45 to 60 mph this evening. Winds will then strengthen again overnight with a second peak in winds expected late tonight through Friday morning. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... People are urged to secure loose objects that could be blown around or damaged by the wind. Prepare for the possibility of widespread power outages. Total snow accumulations of 1 to 4 inches and ice accumulations up to a tenth of an inch. Light to moderate rain. Winds gusting up to 50 mph. * WHERE...Anchorage and Eagle River (all elevations), Matanuska Valley, and Southern Susitna Valley. * WHEN...From 6 PM this evening to 9 PM AKST Friday. * IMPACTS...Travel could be very difficult. The hazardous conditions could impact the Thursday evening and Friday morning commutes.
