Strong northwest winds are expected tonight behind an arctic cold front. Gusts up to 45 mph are anticipated through about midnight, with isolated higher gusts possible over portions of eastern Iowa. It will stay windy through the night with gusts between 30 to 40 mph continuing into early Monday morning. Scattered snow showers may accompany the strong winds, resulting in sudden and localized visibility reductions to under 1 mile. Additionally, blowing and drifting snow is possible where there is currently shallow snow cover, mainly north of Interstate 80.
