Winds could gust as high as 45 mph. * WHERE...East Turnagain Arm, Western Kenai Peninsula, Southern Kenai Mtns, Interior Kenai Peninsula, and Turnagain Pass. * WHEN...From late Wednesday night through late Thursday night. * IMPACTS...Travel could be very difficult. The hazardous conditions could impact the Thursday morning and evening commutes. Gusty winds could bring down tree branches. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...A large moisture plume alongside a warm air mass and a low pressure system will rise into Southcentral Alaska starting Wednesday night. Precipitation will first start as snowfall. Once temperatures warm above freezing higher in elevation, snowfall will transition to freezing rain. Blowing snow is possible before the transition due to gusty winds. Once surface temperatures rise above freezing, precipitation will become mostly rain. However, as the rain falls on frozen surfaces, slippery roads and surfaces will cause hazardous driving and travel conditions. There is much uncertainty with this event and the forecast is subject to change. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Monitor the latest forecasts for updates on this situation. &&
