The pollen levels for Saturday will be falling but will remain in the high range. This relief in pollen levels is caused in part by rising humidity, weak winds and expected precipitation in the morning and evening which tends to wash pollen out of the air.

When the public health impact of this blunder was fully determined, the plant was then aggressively eradicated. This explains why ragweed is so uncommon in western Washington and Oregon today.
