1. Why is the data different on Now, Hourly & 10-Day Forecast?
WeatherBug has 3 different types of forecasts that are updated with different frequencies.
- The Now Forecast is updated multiple times a day.
- The Hourly Forecast is updated every 15 minutes.
- The 10-Day Forecast is updated hourly.
2. Where can I submit feedback or request support?
We take your feedback and questions very seriously!
We have an extensive list of common questions that can maybe help you. Please check if your question was already answered in our Support Center.

3. Why doesn’t my town/city come up in the search bar?
We are always working hard to provide you with the most accurate weather information, and that also means trying to have every location possible in our database. However, it is possible that, at the moment, we don’t have a weather station in your city. You can look for weather stations in cities nearby, or you can also send an email to our Customer Support Team, and we will do our best to include your town in our system soon.
4. Why are there so many ads?/ How to remove ads?
The advertising helps us to provide all this fantastic information to our users at no cost. However, if you don’t like seeing ads, you can purchase one of our ad-free subscriptions for mobile. You can also search for WeatherBug Elite and have it downloaded on your device.
WeatherBug offers 2 different types of subscriptions that you can purchase directly on our app:
- Monthly Subscription: $1.99/month. The subscription needs to be renewed every month.
- Yearly Subscription: $10.99/year. The subscription needs to be renewed after one year.
- Open WeatherBug
- Select the WeatherBug menu at the top left screen
- Select Ad-Free Subscription
- Choose your desired subscription option.
5. Our Commitment/Our policy
WeatherBug is committed to keeping your information and your data safe. When you authorize WeatherBug to use your location, you can access the best and most personalized weather data possible.
Here are the types of data we collect:
- Personal information: name, email, location, ZIP Code, gender, date of birth, and interests
- Usage information:Types of browsers and devices accessing the Services, IP address, browser type, the Internet service provider (ISP), referring/exit pages, the files viewed on our site (e.g., HTML pages, graphics, etc.), operating system, date/time stamp, clickstream data to analyze trends in the aggregate and administer the site, device platform ad ID, date and time of visit, web viewing and app use data, and precise location data. 6. How is the data used?
We may use the information we collect for a variety of purposes, including:
- Operating, maintaining, customizing, and improving our Services;
- Responding to your requests and questions;
- Providing personalized weather information;
- Delivering advertising we believe to be relevant to your interests, both about our products and the products of other third parties - for instance, we may use the location-related data to present ads from a local business or use that and other data we collect to deliver advertisements that you may find more relevant;
- Performing analytics, research, and attribution, including predicting possible relationships among different browsers and devices;
- Monitoring the Services for compliance with the law and our terms of service;
- For product development; and
- Any other purpose disclosed at the time of collection.
7. What are Notification Services?
Notification Services are weather notifications and alerts, such as Severe Weather Alerts that are issued by the National Weather Service, sent to your devices' notification area when severe or dangerous weather is approaching your saved locations.
8. What are Dangerous Thunderstorm Alerts?
Dangerous Thunderstorm Alerts, or DTA's, provide advanced notification to the increased threat of severe weather moving into an identified area. DTA's are issued when there is a high frequency of lightning indicating the increased potential of severe weather. DTA's are available for almost all locations around the world.
9. How do I manage my Notification Services?
To manage your Notification Services, navigate to the settings menu by tapping the WeatherBug icon in the upper left corner. In the settings menu, select Alerts and then navigate to the toggle switch to the right of each saved location to turn on or off notification services for each location.
10. Why do I keep getting alerts when all my alerts are turned off?
Sometimes you might receive alerts even if your alerts are disabled. That happens when the local or federal government is sending an important notification through WeatherBug when there is a severe weather event happening in your location.
If you don’t want to receive any alerts from WeatherBug you can turn off your notifications within your device settings. Go to Settings > Notifications and disable notifications for WeatherBug. If you disable WeatherBug alerts on your phone you will not receive any notifications, not even when they are enabled on the app.

11. What are lightning alerts?
WeatherBug's lightning alerts are in-app alerts that inform you when lightning strikes are within 30 miles of your current or saved locations.
12. What do the different colors for lightning alerts mean?
Grey - lightning alerts are not available for that location
Green - no lightning detected near that location
Yellow - lightning has been detected less than 30 miles from that location
Orange - lightning has been detected within 20 miles from that location
Red - lightning is within 10 miles of that location
13. Why can't I see the Radar?
Please make sure the layer transparency setting is dark enough to see the Radar. You can change that by using the Layer opacity scale under the layers options.
Sometimes VPNs also conflict with Radar, so please disable your VPN for a minute and see if the Radar loads.
If that doesn't work, you can try switching between wifi and cellular data to see if that helps brighten the Radar.
14. What do the colors on the maps represent?
The map colors can represent different weather indicators, such as temperature, precipitation, air quality, pressure, pollen concentration, humidity, storm indicator, wind chill, and wind speed.
For example:
- Dark Blue is virga or rain that is falling but not actually making it to the ground;
- Green is light rain
- Yellow is moderate rain
- Orange to Red is heavy rain
- Dark Purple is flooding rain
- The Pink in the middle is a mix of rain and snow, freezing rain, sleet.
- Light Pink is when the mix is not reaching the ground.
- Medium Pink is accumulating
- The dark Pink is heavy rain/snow mix, freezing, rain, or sleet.
- Blue on the right is snow.
- The Light Blue is snow falling but not reaching the ground. It evaporates before it hits the ground.
- The Blue in the middle is accumulating Snow
- The White on the far-Right is Heavy Snow.
