Concentration of pollen grains in the air for Saturday will be falling into the very low range. Since the weather has a major influence on pollen dispersal, this decrease is due in part to falling temperatures, lack of strong winds and expected precipitation in the morning, afternoon and evening which tends to wash pollen out of the air.

When the public health impact of this blunder was fully determined, the plant was then aggressively eradicated. This explains why ragweed is so uncommon in western Washington and Oregon today.
