With the summer waning, there's still a little bit of time left to enjoy the great outdoors. Read on for some outdoor activities.
Check out our suggestions below of how you can make this summer worthwhile:
Hiking- This option is a little more viable if you want a taste of the outdoors without spending dinnertime there. Going to your favorite neighborhood park or even driving to your nearest national park and hiking along the trails with a map and a sightseeing book could be the perfect way to get out and exercise.
Kayaking- This idea could provide the summer with a much needed “splash” of fun. Kayaking always proves to be fun for the whole family.
Paddle boating- This will most likely be less intense than kayaking but still a very fun idea. From very young to elderly, paddle boating is a great way to bond, and you might even come across some friendly geese while out on the water!
Mini-Golfing- There is nothing like spending a hot summer day at the local mini golf course. Now of course you are entitled to go to the regular golf course, but “Putt Putt” is bound to keep those restless kiddos entertained. Not to mention all sorts of different scenery and obstacles that really get the ball rolling at the course.
Basketball- Speaking of balls rolling, every neighborhood is bound to have a park with a basketball court. Even travelling to the nearest school with a court is a perfect idea to shoot some hoops with your family and friends.
Fishing- If possible, travelling to the nearest marina where you and your family can spend a day reeling in fish could be “bushels” of fun. In some instances, you don’t even have to travel that far, just taking a trip to the neighborhood pond and practicing your casting is also a fun way to get outside and enjoy the summer weather!
Skygazing- Nothing better than laying on the ground with your blanket and looking for the North Star. Skygazing is a good way to relax while passing the time. It is also best to do during the summer, but not when there’s fireworks because you won’t really get a good view of The Little and Big Dipper.
Badminton- Finally, this backyard sport is enjoyed no matter how young or old! Badminton provides the thrill of playing tennis without the competitive stress. Let your troubles and pent up energy be released as the birdie soars through the air.
Camping- Beware! This option means that you’ll be sleeping with the critters for at least one night, but it still holds a golden opportunity to bond with family and friends. Be sure to check ahead of time that the campsite you've selected is open and available to reserve.
Be sure to apply plenty of sunscreen and to stay hydrated while enjoying the outdoors!
