Heavy lake-effect snow coupled with gusty wind reduced visibility for drivers in western New York on Wednesday, December 11, the National Weather Service (NWS) said.
One to two inches of snow was forecast to fall per hour, the NWS said. In a winter weather advisory, the weather service projected a total of three to six inches of snowfall in the area. Forecasters said wind gusts up to 40 mph and consequent blowing snow could make visibility “very poor.”
