Sunday's Low Temperatures

The Arctic air will stick around until early next week in the central and eastern U.S., with temperatures holding 15 to 30 degrees below normal. This cold air will penetrate into the Deep South and even into southern Florida through the end of the weekend and beyond!

A large area of Arctic high pressure is currently locked in over the Eastern U.S. with a Southeast U.S. snowstorm bringing a reinforcing shot of cold air this weekend. Lows in the single digits and negatives will return in the Lower Midwest, Northeast, Appalachian Mountains, and the interior of the Mid-Atlantic this morning.

Lows in the South will be frigid with teens and 20s being common in the Lower Plains, Mid-South, Tennessee Valley, Carolinas, and southeastern Mid-Atlantic. Twenties and 30s will be felt in the Deep South and along the Gulf Coast going deep into Florida.

Widespread Cold Weather Advisories, Freeze Warnings and Extreme Cold Warnings remain in place from the Mid-South to southwestern New England, notably affecting all of the Florida Peninsula! Extreme Cold Warnings and Freeze Warnings also cover southern sections of Texas, Louisiana, and Mississippi.

Florida will see some of its strongest cold temperatures yet this morning and through early next week, with low temperatures in the 30s even getting into southern Florida each morning.
