Fun Spring Activities For The Entire Family

The temperatures are rising and spring is in full swing, so now is the time to get outside and have some fun. What are some great spring activities?
Here is a short list:
Have a picnic: Grab a picnic basket and fill it with sandwiches and other lunch treats and head to the nearest park. This is a great way to take in some of the sun`s rays and fresh air while enjoying Mother Nature`s beauty.
Take a jog, outdoor hike or ride a bike: Walking, running, biking or hiking are great ways to break out of cabin fever. Spring is a great time for the family to jog and take a stroll through the neighborhood; temperatures aren`t too cold or too hot just yet. Just remember to wear a helmet, if biking. It`s also a perfect time to explore trails in nearby parks and see the blooming flowers.
Visit a farm or local zoo: Check your local newspaper or ask your children`s teachers or nearby neighbors for local farms open to the public or find the nearest zoo. Talk to your kids about the animals they will see and don`t forget to bring a camera to take pictures when you arrive! Another fun alternative would be to visit a farm where your kids can go horseback riding.
Plant flowers: Get the whole family involved with planting seeds in your garden or favorite spot in the yard. This is a great way for kids to see the growth process as seeds become flowers through proper care and nurturing. Fast-sprouting flowers include marigolds, cosmos and zinnias.
Go to Flower Festival: Although it might to late to see cherry blossoms in bloom, spring flower festivals are held in other cities across the U.S. as well. Check your local tourist board for information on flower festivals near your neighborhood.
These activities will help break the winter doldrums and allow for a breath of fresh air before the extreme heat of summer arrives.
