Need to lose a few winter pounds? Don`t have the time or energy to work-out in the morning? No problem! Spring is the season to take advantage of the later daylight and milder weather for after-work fitness. It`s also time to spring clean the closets of your old exercise apparel and equipment.
  • New shoes. One of the most important things you can do for your well-being is wearing the right footwear. This is the time to replace old walking or running shoes because old soles can quickly lead to injuries and back aches. The rule of thumb: If you run or walk 10 miles a week, replace your shoes once a year.
  • Maintenance your exercise equipment. Bicycles, rollerblades, or treadmills that may have been in storage for the winter should be inspected, cleaned, or repaired. Things like exercise balls and yoga mats should be thoroughly cleaned as they can harbor mold and bacteria while being stored in the garage or basement.
  • Lastly, make small efforts to work more fitness into your day. Instead of watching tv after work, record your favorite shows and go out for a short walk. Pick up a hobby you enjoy that keeps you moving, like bowling or dancing. Also try to sneak in more daily exercise by doing little things like taking the stairs instead of the elevator, or parking at the far end of the lot at work.
Not all fitness routines will work for everybody, and making smart food choices can be hard sometimes, so don`t let that discourage you.

More than anything, try to enjoy the warmth and fresh air the season has to offer. Just getting outside and getting moving can make a world of difference in your health.
