UPDATED By WeatherBug Meteorologists

Tropical Storm Idalia will move away from the U.S. today, but the eastern Carolinas will still feel its effects.
As of 11 a.m. EDT, Tropical Storm Idalia was located near 33.6 N and 75.8 W, or about 85 miles southeast of Cape Lookout, N.C. Idalia’s top sustained winds are 60 mph, and it is moving east at 20 mph. Idalia's minimum central pressure is 992 mb, or 29.30 inches of mercury.
A Tropical Storm Warning is in effect from Cape Fear, N.C., to the North Carolina/Virginia border, along with the Pamlico and Albemarle sounds.
A Storm Surge Warning is in effect for the Beaufort Inlet to Orcacoke Inlet, N.C., and for the Neuse and Pamlico rivers in North Carolina.
Idalia will continue to turn eastward today, moving into the open Atlantic through the weekend. Idalia could come close to Bermuda by early next week as a tropical storm.
Winds in the eastern Carolinas will slowly ease as time goes on today now that the tropical storm-force winds have moved offshore. Idalia in combination with the lunar cycle will continue to cause coastal flooding issues in the Carolinas through the end of the week. The heaviest rain will move offshore by midday, with rain exiting North Carolina by the late afternoon or early evening.
