Old Man Winter Dampens Holiday Travel For Parts of U.S.
November 28, 2019
UPDATED By WeatherBug's Chris Sayles
More wintry weather will make it difficult to travel across the U.S. today. Everything from snow to thunderstorms could induce major delays.
The central and western U.S. will continue to have travel headaches today.
A new storm system will zip across the southern Plains, spreading rain from western Texas into the southern Plains and Ozarks. It will also produce snow across parts of the central Plains, causing additional travel headaches from Albuquerque, N.M., to Omaha, Neb.
It's best to hunker down if traveling through the Desert Southwest, south-central Plains, Rockies and Great Basin. Off and on snow and rain showers will make travelers uneasy. Northwestern Texas, much of Oklahoma, New Mexico, Kansas, Arizona, Utah, Nevada and California are in for a wet and slushy Thanksgiving. Although, Oregon and Washington will be drying out from recent rain and snowfall.
If that wasn’t enough, heavy rain will move across southern California and the Southwest. This will slow down the traffic in Los Angeles, Las Vegas and Phoenix, while also creating delays at most of the airports across the Southwest. This same system will produce snow the southern Sierra Nevada and the mountains of northern Arizona, Utah and western Colorado.
The rest of the U.S., outside of snow showers through late afternoon in New England, will have smooth Thanksgiving travel.
