UPDATED By Weatherbug Meteorologist, Mark Ellinwood
Rainfall forecast through Tuesday
While Hilary no longer has tropical characteristics, it will still bring flooding rains and windy conditions to the western U.S.

Post-tropical Hilary will push up into the northwestern U.S. today, where it will gradually weaken as it gets absorbed into the main upper-level flow.

Hilary's large diameter will bring ample opportunity to draw moisture northward. Rainfall will be heavy as it moves from south to north. Flood Watches and Flash Flood Warnings stretch from southern California and northern Arizona to eastern Oregon, eastern Washington, and Idaho. Rainfall in these areas will generally be between 0.5 to 2.0 inches, but locally higher amounts of 2 to 3 inches are possible through Tuesday.

Rain isn’t the only concern, with strong winds expected from the remnants of Hilary as well. High Wind Warnings and Wind Advisories have been issued for parts of southern California, most of Nevada, western Utah, most of Idaho, and southwestern Montana. Sustained winds up to 25 to 35 mph with gusts up to 50 to 60 mph are possible, especially along high terrain, passes, and summits.
