Heavy rainfall caused severe flooding in the Gard department of southern France on September 14, bringing extensive damage to property and vehicles, local media reported.
In Codognan, a stretch of the River Rhony swelled to “engulf several districts”, La Chaine Info said, adding that locals had never seen anything like it.
Footage posted by Steph Vignau shows the fast-flowing floodwater in Codognan.
In response to the flooding, French Interior Minister Gerald Darmanin visited the Gard, where he called on locals to remain vigilant, and said they would have his full support.
