Excessive rainfall caused dangerous flooding and forced evacuations in parts of Vermont on Monday, July 10, officials said.

Aerial footage posted by Henry Swenson from henrysweatherchannel shows roads and homes in the town of Ludlow submerged.

“My heart breaks for the town of Ludlow, Vermont. Historic flash flooding the last 24 hours has completely put Ludlow underwater,” Swenson wrote. “This is heartbreaking. Pray for Vermont.”

Vermont Emergency Management said swift water rescue teams evacuated “about 10 families from flooded homes in nearby Londonderry, Andover and Ascutney.”

Vermont Gov Phil Scott called it an “all hands on deck” event during a press conference on Monday morning and had declared a state of emergency the day before.
