At least 25 people were killed and dozens were injured after a destructive tornado ripped through western Mississippi on Friday, March 24, officials said.
CCTV footage posted by Sam Strickland, IT Director at Amory School District, shows a tornado damaging the ceiling of Amory High School.
Strickland also shared a photograph in order to “show the rest of the school is safe,” he said. “We do not want to give the local parents and students a false impression that the entire school was damaged or destroyed,” he said.
The City of Amory and Amory Police Department said a temporary curfew would be put in place and said the town’s water department “suffered a direct hit.”
On Saturday, Mississippi Governor Tate Reeves declared a State of Emergency in the counties impacted by the severe storms.
