The Pilot Fire burning across the mountains in San Bernardino County spread to 6,298 acres on August 8, with the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection saying it has contained six percent of the fire.
Around 4,700 homes have been impacted by the fire, with mandatory and voluntary evacuation orders issued by the San Bernardino County Sheriff.
The cause of the fire remains unknown, but the rapid growth is attributed to dry brush and timber.
