Video: River Runs Again in Drought-Struck New South Wales

The long-dry Peel River at Nundle in regional New South Wales began flowing again after widespread rainfall in the state’s north on January 24.
The river feeds the water supply for the nearby town of Tamworth, a regional centre home to around 62,000 people.
The Tamworth area was classified as suffering from ‘intense drought’ as of January 23, according to the Department of Primary Industries. The town received nearly 20mm of rain between January 23 and January 25.
Liz Crowe, who captured this footage of the river, told Storyful that the river had been completely dry at Nundle for around one year — but it was two years since the water had flowed in the area.
In a Facebook post, she wrote: “It’s flowing! We could hear the water coming for a good 5 minutes before it actually came into view, sounded like a waterfall.”
