At least three people died and more than 30,000 people were evacuated in Central Chile on Tuesday, August 22, as a weather front caused historic flooding in the region, local officials said.

In Maule, more than five inches of rain fell over 24 hours, breaking the region’s rainfall record, Chile’s meteorological service said.

This footage was posted to Twitter by national law enforcement agency Carabineros de Chile, who said it showed emergency personnel rescuing two families from a flooded neighborhood in Curico.
