It will be a very busy weekend weather-wise for the Eastern Seaboard and Pacific Northwest as significant storm systems move through both regions.

Saturday

Severe weather and storminess will continue to push eastward toward the East Coast. The severe threat will be concentrated to the Southeast, where scattered thunderstorms capable of producing both tornadoes and damaging winds are possible. This will take place during the afternoon and evening hours. An area of flash flooding is also possible in South Carolina due to these storms.

Elsewhere, scattered showers and thunderstorms will form in Florida and in the Ohio and Tennessee valleys and Mid-Atlantic regions. Rain will begin falling well before sunrise and will continue throughout the day mainly for the Mid-Atlantic. The Tennessee and Ohio valley regions should see rain begin to taper off just after sunset.

To the north, cold air will move in and bring winter weather. The Great Lakes and Northeast regions can expect a mix of rain and snow all day but expect more widespread snow showers during the late evening.

In the Pacific Northwest, a short lived quiet period will come to an end as a Pacific system will make landfall. Coastal rain showers can be expected from central California to northern Washington all day as well as a high elevation mix of snow and rain.

Otherwise, the rest of the nation will be quiet to start out the weekend.

Afternoon temperatures will be in the 70s and 80s in the Southeast, whereas 50s and 60s will be prevalent in the rest of the Deep South, Southern Plains, Mid-Atlantic, and Great Basin. However, a localized cool down will be expected in southwestern Virginia and western North Carolina. Therefore, highs in the 40s and 50s will be found. These same highs will also be found along the Pacific coastline, Mountain West, Northern and Central Plains, Upper Midwest, Great Lakes, and Northeast. Highs in the 60s and 70s can be expected for the Desert Southwest.

Sunday

Storminess will continue as the weekend's end approaches for the Northeast and Pacific Northwest.

The East Coast system will begin to move north and strengthen, bringing in blustery and soggy conditions for the Northeast. Snow showers will fall in West Virginia, Ohio, Michigan, Pennsylvania, and New York throughout the day that will eventually spread to interior New England. Along the New England coastline, rain showers will be prevalent.

Soggy conditions will also be a theme for the Pacific Northwest, as a mix of rain and snow will continue to fall in the high elevations of Washington, Oregon, California, Nevada, and Idaho. Rain showers will also be occurring in the lower elevations and coastal areas.

Other than these two messy systems, the rest of the country can enjoy a quiet and calm day to close out the weekend.

Seasonably warm temperatures will occur in the central and northern Plains, as highs are expected to reach the 40s and 50s in the Dakotas vicinity, whereas 60s and 70s will take place in Nebraska through the Southern Plains. In the Mountain West and along the Pacific coast, 40s and 50s will be found with highs reaching the 60s, 70s, and 80s as one gets further south and into the Desert Southwest. These are also the expected high temperatures for the rest of the Deep South and Southeast regions. Fifties and 60s will be reached in the Tennessee Valley, Ohio Valley, and Mid-Atlantic regions, whereas 30s and 40s will be found in the Great Lakes and Northeast.
