Saturday's Outlook
After a week of active weather, much of the country will see a break in time for the weekend.

Saturday

The weather pattern will finally show signs of moving on Saturday, as an upper-level low ambles from the Upper Midwest into the eastern Great Lakes, upper Ohio Valley and Mid-Atlantic. This will bring soggy conditions from Michigan to Maryland.

Meanwhile, the other area of unsettled weather is expected over the southern Rockies to far western Plains. Showers and a few thunderstorms will target western Texas, New Mexico and Colorado throughout the day.

One area that will enjoy quieter weather will be the Plains and Mississippi Valley, where Saturday’s weather will be dominated by high pressure rather than the waves of storminess that have been common this past week. Likewise, sunshine will be found along the West Coast and in the Southeast.

Temperatures will feel like mid-May for much of the country, with plenty of 70s stretching as far north as the Dakotas and Minnesota, while 80s will stream into the interior Northwest, southern Plains and Southeast. The warmest spots will reach the 90s on Saturday. Unfortunately, clouds will hold temperatures back across the Northeast, Mid-Atlantic and eastern Great Lakes, where 50s and 60s will be the pinnacle of the mercury.

Sunday

Mother’s Day will be somewhat soggy across the southern Plains and western Great Lakes, as a developing storm system chugs eastward. The best chance for strong thunderstorms will be across Texas, Oklahoma and Kansas, while scattered activity could find its way as far north as the Twin Cities.

Mom will also need an umbrella across the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic, where a pesky disturbance will keep rain showers in the forecast for most of the day.

The rest of the country, including all those living west of the Rockies, residents of the Southeast and denizens of the Ohio Valley, will enjoy dry weather to round off the weekend.

Temperatures on Sunday will bear a strong resemblance to Saturday. While 50s and 60s will be the extent of things in the Northeast, widespread 70s to lower 80s will be found from the Dakotas and Minnesota to the Southeast. Higher elevations of the West will see highs in the 70s, while 80s and 90s will be found from the interior Northwest to the Desert Southwest as well as south Texas and Florida.
