-BULLETIN - IMMEDIATE BROADCAST REQUESTED Flood Warning National Weather Service Burlington VT 410 PM EDT Mon Mar 9 2026 Clinton NY- 410 PM EDT Mon Mar 9 2026 ...FLOOD WARNING FOR AN ICE JAM IN EFFECT UNTIL 9 AM EDT TUESDAY... * WHAT...Flooding caused by an ice jam is expected. * WHERE...A portion of northern New York, including the following county, Clinton. * WHEN...Until 900 AM EDT Tuesday. * IMPACTS...Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 408 PM EDT, Emergency management reported an ice jam near the warned area due to snowmelt. Flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly. - An ice jam has developed in Champlain. Based on the gage at Perry Mills, water appears to be backing up again. Emergency Management reports that the river is already near bankfull, and any discharge of water may result in flooding in the village of Champlain along the Great Chazy River. - Some locations that will experience flooding include... Ice jams will be possible, along with rapid onset flooding. Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations will be possible and creeks and streams may rise out of their banks. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - Mild temperatures will lead to rapid rises on area rivers through early this week. This will be followed by widespread rain Wednesday into Thursday. Rising rivers will cause river ice to break up and flow, potentially resulting in ice jams and associated flooding. As rain moves in Wednesday, the threat will turn more toward open water flooding for those waterways that have lost their ice.
