IMPACTS
Gusty winds will blow around unsecured objects and a few power outages may result. Trees are still mostly green and fully leafed, causing them to be more vulnerable to damage from the strong winds.
ADDITIONAL DETAILS
A strong fall storm system moving into the western coast of Alaska will produce a prolonged period of strong and gusty winds across the Anchorage area. Winds will initially develop out of the southeast on Tuesday morning as strong winds along the Turnagain Arm bend into town. The strongest winds will be focused on the south and west side of town until winds turn out of the south and spread into the rest of the Anchorage Bowl by Tuesday evening. Gusty southerly winds will continue through late Wednesday morning before slowly diminishing Wednesday afternoon.
