For the High Wind Warning, northeast winds 15 to 25 mph with gusts up to 60 mph. * WHERE...City and Borough of Juneau. For the High Wind Warning, mainly near Downtown Juneau and Douglas. * WHEN...For the Extreme Cold Warning, until noon AKST Tuesday. For the High Wind Warning, until 9 AM AKST Monday. * IMPACTS...High winds will blow around unsecured objects and may damage property and cause power outages. Travel will be difficult. Frostbite and hypothermia are likely if exposed to these temperatures. An extended period of freezing temperatures could cause ruptured water pipes. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Highest winds gusts will be in the Downtown Juneau area, Douglas, and locations south of there. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... People are urged to secure vessels and loose objects that could be blown around or damaged by the wind. To prevent freezing and possible bursting of outdoor water pipes they should be wrapped, drained, or allowed to drip slowly.
