Highest surf Wednesday in San Diego County. Minor coastal flooding will also be a threat. High rip current risk. * WHERE...San Diego County Coastal Areas and Orange County Coastal Areas. * WHEN...Until 10 PM PST Friday. * IMPACTS...Dangerous swimming and surfing conditions and localized beach erosion. High rip current risk. Minor tidal overflow into parking lots and boardwalks. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Surf will peak Wednesday, especially for San Diego County. Rip currents are powerful channels of water flowing quickly away from shore, which occur most often at low spots or breaks in the sandbar and in the vicinity of structures such as groins, jetties and piers. Heed the advice of lifeguards and beach patrol flags and signs. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Inexperienced swimmers should remain out of the water due to dangerous surf conditions. &&

These storms may produce locally damaging wind gusts, and perhaps a brief tornado. 20z Update No changes were made to the D1 Convective Outlook. Bands of thunderstorm activity continue to move onshore across portions of the southern California coast, with potential for gusty winds and brief tornado. The threat will gradually shift southward through the afternoon/evening with the gradual movement inland of the upper-level wave. See previous discussion for more information.
