Total snow accumulations under one inch and ice accumulations around a light glaze possible. West to northwest winds 20 to 30 mph, gusting 40 to 50 mph. Gusts up to 55 mph are possible across portions of eastern Iowa. * WHERE...Portions of northwest Illinois and east central and northeast Iowa. * WHEN...From 6 PM this evening to 9 AM CST Wednesday. * IMPACTS...Roadways may become slick and hazardous. The hazardous conditions could impact the Wednesday morning commute. Gusty winds will blow around unsecured objects, including holiday decorations. Tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...A period of freezing rain is possible this evening into early tonight mainly north of Highway 30 before the precipitation changes to all rain as temperatures warm above freezing. Very strong west to northwest winds are expected behind a cold front late tonight into Wednesday morning, which may be accompanied by snow showers or periods of light snow resulting in reduced visibilities. Additionally, blowing and drifting snow is possible in open and rural areas, especially across eastern Iowa. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Be prepared for slippery roads. Slow down and use caution while driving. If you are going outside, watch your first few steps taken on stairs, sidewalks, and driveways. These surfaces could be icy and slippery, increasing your risk of a fall and injury. &&
