Total snow accumulations today between 2 and 5 inches with higher amounts 4 to 8 inches north of I-90, the New York State Thruway. For the lake effect snow Thursday through Friday, additional snow accumulations of 4 to 6 inches are expected. * WHERE...Southern Herkimer County. * WHEN...Until 7 AM EST Friday. * IMPACTS...Roads, and especially bridges and overpasses, will likely become slick and hazardous. Plan on slippery road conditions. The hazardous conditions could impact the Wednesday evening and Thursday morning commutes. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Lake effect snow develops overnight and continues into Thursday. Up to 4 to 6 inches of additional snow is possible within the most persistent bands. Gusty winds will lead to blowing and drifting of snow, which could create hazardous travel conditions within the lake effect bands. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
