This is expected to be a prolonged blowing snow and cold weather event. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...An arctic airmass will drive colder air and strong winds south through the passes of the Alaska Range late Friday through Sunday. The combination of snow already on the ground and strong gap winds through the mountain passes will likely lead to blowing snow that may severely reduce visibility. The combination of wind and falling temperatures will result in wind chill values as low as 25 below zero through Broad Pass and 40 below zero across the far northern Copper River Basin. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... A Blizzard Warning means severe winter weather conditions are expected or occurring. Falling and blowing snow with strong winds and poor visibilities are likely. This will lead to whiteout conditions, making travel very hazardous. If you must travel, have a winter survival kit with you. If you get stranded, stay with your vehicle.
