Nighttime infrared satellite imagery, area webcams and surface observations indicate that areas of locally dense fog embedded within a deck of low stratus cloud cover continues to progress eastward across northeast and north central Florida, extending northward into portions of inland southeast GA. Locally dense fog will likely persist through the mid-morning hours on Saturday for locations south of Waycross in southeast Georgia, with fog potentially impacting coastal locations in northeast Florida and coastal southeast Georgia towards sunrise as well. The nature of the fog is such that visibilities will vary greatly over short distances. Motorists should be alert for rapidly changing conditions during the overnight, predawn, and morning hours on Saturday. If you plan on driving through these areas, slow down and leave extra distance ahead of you in case a sudden stop is needed.
