Additional snow accumulations up to 1 inch. The snow may mix with light freezing rain or drizzle with ice accumulations up to a light glaze. Winds may gust as high as 30 mph at times. * WHERE...Gallatin and Madison County Mountains and Centennial Mountains and Northwest Beaverhead County. * WHEN...Until 11 AM MST this morning. * IMPACTS...Plan for winter driving conditions. -URGENT - IMMEDIATE BROADCAST REQUESTED AVALANCHE WARNING GALLATIN NATIONAL FOREST AVALANCHE CENTER Relayed by National Weather Service Great Falls MT 518 AM MST Mon Dec 22 2025 THE FOLLOWING MESSAGE IS TRANSMITTED AT THE REQUEST OF THE GALLATIN NATIONAL FOREST AVALANCHE CENTER. 515 AM MST Mon Dec 22 2025 The Gallatin National Forest Avalanche Center has issued an avalanche warning. * WHAT... The avalanche danger is HIGH on all slopes. Natural and human-triggered slides are very likely. * WHERE...The mountains near Island Park, West Yellowstone * WHEN...In effect through Tuesday 530 AM MST. * IMPACTS...Heavy snowfall on a snowpack with unstable weak layers will make human triggered avalanches very likely. * PRECAUTIONARY / PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...Very dangerous avalanche conditions exist. Backcountry travelers should stay off steep slopes and away from the bottom of steep slopes. Avalanches can be triggered from flat terrain.
