-# HEADLINE -------------------- RED FLAG WARNING IN EFFECT FROM NOON TO 8 PM MDT SATURDAY FOR EAST CENTRAL AND NORTHEAST NEW MEXICO DUE TO GUSTY WINDS AND LOW HUMIDITY FIRE WEATHER WATCH IN EFFECT FROM SUNDAY AFTERNOON THROUGH SUNDAY EVENING FOR MUCH OF CENTRAL AND EASTERN NEW MEXICO DUE TO STRONG WINDS AND LOW HUMIDITY FIRE WEATHER WATCH REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM SUNDAY AFTERNOON THROUGH SUNDAY EVENING # SUMMARY -------------------- .On Saturday, west winds will strengthen with occasional gusts up to 40 mph east of the central mountain chain. In addition, humidity will fall as low as 8 to 15 percent, resulting in critical fire weather conditions. On Sunday, much stronger winds will impact a larger portion of the area with continued dry conditions. # DETAILS -------------------- AREA AND TIMING Rio Grande Valley (Zone 106) and Sandia and Manzano Mountains (Zone 124) from Sunday afternoon through Sunday evening. 20 FOOT WINDS Southwest at 25 to 40 mph with occasional gusts of 45 to 60 mph with the highest speeds over the mountains. RELATIVE HUMIDITY Minimum values of 10 to 15 percent. IMPACTS Any fires that develop will likely spread rapidly. Outdoor burning is not recommended.
