Visibilities of a quarter mile or less have been common in these areas. Additional rounds of snowfall through the afternoon and evening will prolong these deteriorated conditions, with strong winds expected to continue into Monday morning. Freezing temperatures have now switched snow over to rain in central and south central Iowa, leading to slushy and slick roadways. Additional snowfall tracking from west to east over this area, as well as gusty winds, will continue to impact travel, especially on rural and untreated roads.
