Northwest winds will gust 30 to 45 mph today. * WHERE...Portions of northwest North Carolina, southwest and west central Virginia, and southeast West Virginia. * WHEN...From 7 AM this morning to 10 AM EST Monday. * IMPACTS...The cold wind chills as low as 15 below zero could result in hypothermia or frostbite if precautions are not taken. Frostbite and hypothermia will occur if unprotected skin is exposed to these temperatures. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Use caution while traveling outside. Expect a period of snow early this morning across the mountains from southeast West Virginia into the Grayson Highlands and North Carolina High Country. Some of the higher elevations could pick up a couple of inches. Slippery road conditions will develop this morning as temperatures drop through the 20s.
