-# HEADLINE -------------------- FLOOD WATCH FOR AN ICE JAM NOW IN EFFECT THROUGH WEDNESDAY EVENING # SUMMARY -------------------- Including the cities of St Marys, Marshall, Pilot Station, and Russian Mission 958 PM AKDT Tue May 19 2026 # DETAILS -------------------- WHAT Flooding caused by an ice jam continues to be possible. WHERE Lower Yukon River. This includes the communities of Russian Mission, Marshall, Pilot Station, and St. Mary's. WHEN Through Wednesday evening. IMPACTS High water may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. ADDITIONAL DETAILS - The ice jam located downriver of Russian Mission is made up of about 3 miles of large intact ice sheets extending from Roosevelt Island to Seven Mile. River Watch overflew the ice jam at noon Tuesday and again at 5 pm and saw no change. About 60 miles of chunk and pan ice extend from the head of the jam upriver past Holy Cross.
