Special Weather Statement National Weather Service Jackson KY 909 AM EST Wed Dec 10 2025 Knox-Bell-Harlan-Floyd-Knott-Perry-Clay-Leslie-Letcher-Pike- Including the cities of Barbourville, Middlesboro, Pineville, Cumberland, Harlan, Prestonsburg, Wheelwright, Hindman, Pippa Passes, Hazard, Manchester, Hyden, Jenkins, Whitesburg, Coal Run, Elkhorn City, Pikeville, and South Williamson 909 AM EST Wed Dec 10 2025 A large and potent early winter storm system will be moving through the northern Ohio Valley today. As it passes by to our north, it will bring strong and gusty south to southwest winds to eastern Kentucky with the direction becoming more westerly during the afternoon following the passage of a cold front. With this, wind gusts of 30 to 35 mph are expected with locally higher gusts possible. This is enough to blow around lawn displays, garbage cans, and make for difficult driving of higher profile vehicles.
