-URGENT - WINTER WEATHER MESSAGE National Weather Service Anchorage AK 224 PM AKST Thu Dec 4 2025 Eureka / Tahneta Pass-Western Copper Valley-Central Copper Valley- Ernestine-Southern Copper Valley-McCarthy- Including the cities of Kenny Lake, Lake Louise, Glennallen, 46 Mile, McCarthy, Eureka, Copper Center, Mendeltna, Gakona, Chitina, Tonsina, Tahneta Pass, Tolsona, and Nelchina 224 PM AKST Thu Dec 4 2025 ...WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM 5 PM THIS AFTERNOON TO 5 PM AKST SATURDAY... * WHAT...Snow and blowing snow expected. Total snow accumulations 4 to 12 inches. Lowest amounts from Glennallen west. Highest amounts south and east of Glennallen. Winds gusting as high as 35 mph on Saturday. * WHERE...Central Copper Valley, Ernestine, Eureka / Tahneta Pass, McCarthy, Southern Copper Valley, and Western Copper Valley. * WHEN...From 5 PM this afternoon to 5 PM AKST Saturday. * IMPACTS...Travel could be very difficult. Blowing snow Friday night and Saturday could reduce visibility to as low as one half mile at times. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...A long duration snow event will begin over the southern half of the Copper River Basin by this evening. The first round of light to moderate snow will likely persist through around noon Friday before possibly tapering off for a time Friday afternoon. A second round of snow is then expected to develop by Friday evening and continue through Saturday afternoon. Northerly winds will also increase Friday night through Saturday as colder air moves into the basin. The snow will become light and powdery by Saturday, with the combination of snow and wind likely leading to areas of blowing snow that could significantly reduce visibility.
