-URGENT - WINTER WEATHER MESSAGE National Weather Service Juneau AK 306 AM AKST Tue Dec 16 2025 ...SNOW FOR THE PANHANDLE CONTINUES... .The long duration snow event is ongoing as a band of moderate snowfall is continuing to track inland. This band is bringing snow for those along the coast and into the Icy Strait Corridor area. The snow will continue through tonight and early Tuesday. Farther south, snow showers are expected to continue for the central panhandle into Monday night. These showers have primarily ranged from northern Prince of Wales Island to Frederick Sound. With these showers spreading westward a bit further than previously forecast, a winter weather advisory has been issued to include Kake and Port Alexander for additional snow accumulations overnight. Additional snow accumulations of up to one inch. * WHERE...Western Kupreanof Island and Kuiu Island. * WHEN...Until 9 AM AKST this morning. * IMPACTS...Plan on slippery conditions. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Snow showers have been drifting across the area through the evening hours, causing big swings in snowfall rates. Satellite observations suggest a more organized band of showers will move across the area late tonight into Tuesday morning. Localized heavier amounts are possible for areas that get stuck under training snow showers. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Slow down and use caution while traveling. People are urged to prepare their property before the onset of winter weather. &&
