Special Weather Statement National Weather Service Juneau AK 345 PM AKDT Mon Mar 9 2026 City and Borough of Sitka-Petersburg Borough- Western Kupreanof Island and Kuiu Island-Prince of Wales Island- City and Borough of Wrangell-Ketchikan Gateway Borough- Annette Island- Including the cities of Sitka, Petersburg, Kake, Port Alexander, Craig, Klawock, Hydaburg, Coffman Cove, Thorne Bay, Wrangell, Ketchikan, and Metlakatla 345 PM AKDT Mon Mar 9 2026 ...SNOW SHOWERS CONTINUE WITH MODERATE TO HEAVY SHOWERS WEDNESDAY AND THURSDAY... Snow showers continue across the panhandle with a chance for heavier showers to return to central and southern portions of SE AK Wednesday and Thursday. Confidence is higher with the timing of these heavier showers, but confidence remains low with snow totals. Snow amounts over 24 hours are most likely to remain around 2 to 4 inches with a low chance of snow around or above 6 to 8 inches. We will continue to monitor both the snow showers that are occurring now, and the ones expected for mid week. Showers then look to weaken at the end of the work week.
