Total snow accumulations 1 to 2 feet over the higher elevations of southern and eastern YNP. 6 to 12 inches in central portions of Yellowstone mainly above 7,500 ft, and between 1 and 4 inches in Lamar Valley and Mammoth. Winds could gust as high as 50 mph at times. * WHERE...Yellowstone National Park. * WHEN...From this evening through Saturday afternoon. * IMPACTS...Travel could be very difficult especially in the backcountry. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Snowfall will differ in intensity over a 3 day span with periods of moderate to heavy snowfall. Periodic wind gusts in excess of 50 mph and snowfall will likely create near whiteout conditions at times.
