Beta App Questions

1. How do I know if I've been selected for the Beta?
If you're eligible, a promotional card will pop up inside your app inviting you to try the new experience. It'll show up each time you open the app, so if you don't see it, you aren't in the current test group just yet—but don't worry, we're expanding access regularly!
2. Do I need to update the app to access the Beta?
You bet. Make sure you've got the latest version of WeatherBug from the App Store. That beta toggle only peeks out if you're on the most recent version and part of the test group.
3. Can I have both the 'official' WeatherBug app and the beta app installed?
Actually, it's even easier! You can just toggle back and forth between the two experiences right inside the same app whenever you feel like it.
4. Can I invite friends and family to the beta?
I love the enthusiasm, but not right now. Our beta slots are limited, so we can't send out extra invites at this time.
5. I do not see some features I previously used in the Beta version. Why?
We're still porting some of the classics over to the new design. If something you rely on isn't there yet, just know it's on its way!
6. Does the beta support Dark mode?
Absolutely. The app should match your device settings automatically, or you can manually swap between Light and Dark mode in the Main Menu.
7. Can I use the app on my tablet?
You can, but just a heads-up: the beta isn't fully optimized for tablets yet.
8. Can I use the beta with my Apple Watch?
Not at the moment, but we're definitely considering it for the future.
9. Has the navigation changed? I can't find something.
The same tools you love are still here, but some have moved as part of the redesign. Try exploring the main menu or the updated settings area to find your way around.
10. Will my saved locations carry over to the Beta?
Absolutely. Your saved locations, preferences, and settings are designed to carry over seamlessly.
11. Will my alert preferences and notification settings be preserved?
They should transfer automatically. Once you're in the beta, it's a good idea to double-check your notification settings just to make sure everything looks right.
12. What if some of my settings didn't carry over?
While we're aiming for a smooth ride, the beta is an early build and hiccups can happen. If something didn't transfer, please let us know via the Main Menu → Send Feedback.
13. Will my existing subscription work in the Beta?
Of course! Your subscription carries over automatically. If you're an ad-free subscriber, you'll stay ad-free in the beta.
14. What should I do if I have feedback or run into an issue?
I want to hear it! In the main menu, tap Send Feedback and give us the details (and a screenshot if you can).
15. How often can I expect updates?
We're aiming to roll out updates and new features roughly every two weeks.
16. When will the Beta become the full app for everyone?
The timeline is open-ended because we're committed to getting it right before the full rollout. We'll graduate the new design to everyone once it's stable and feature-complete.
17. Do I get anything for being a Beta tester?
Other than the fuzzy feeling of helping us build a better app, no. But we sure do appreciate you!
18. What if the Beta doesn't meet my needs? Can I switch back?
No problem at all. Just go to the main menu and toggle the "app redesign beta" option to off to go back to the classic WeatherBug experience.
