Discussion

Concentration of pollen grains in the air for Saturday will be falling in the moderate range. Since the weather has a major influence on pollen dispersal, this decrease is due in part to falling temperatures, rising humidity, and heavy rains in the morning which tend to wash pollen out of the air. That's good news for allergy sufferers.

Allergy Facts

Many decades ago, farmers in the Pacific Northwest planted ragweed in their apple orchards for ground cover. When the public health impact of this blunder was fully determined, the plant was then aggressively eradicated. This explains why ragweed is so uncommon in western Washington and Oregon today.
